Why Vanilla Brasil

Specialists. From planting to final product.

Most vanilla on the American shelf changes hands many times before it reaches you. Ours never leaves the family.

01

We grow it

Our own Vanilla planifolia plantation in Bahia, Brazil. Every vine hand pollinated, every pod hand picked at the right moment.

02

We cure it

Curing happens on our own site, not outsourced. Slow, patient, and monitored pod by pod until the aroma is fully developed.

03

We make it

Caviar, paste and powder are produced in house from our own beans. Nothing but vanilla goes into the jar.

04

You can trace it

One origin, one team, one chain of custody. Full traceability from the vine in Bahia to your kitchen in the US.

Our Craft

Three years of patience in every pod

Vanilla is the second most labor intensive spice in the world. There is no shortcut, and we do not look for one.

  • 1

    Hand pollination

Each flower opens for a single morning. Our team pollinates every one by hand, flower by flower.

  • 2

    Maturation on the vine

Pods stay on the vine for months, developing the precursors that become aroma.

  • 3

    Selective harvest

Picked pod by pod, only at the exact point of ripeness.

  • 4

    Curing

Scalding, sweating, slow drying and resting. This is where vanillin and hundreds of aromatic compounds appear.

  • 5

    Production

Beans are graded, then transformed into caviar, paste and powder in our own facility.

Our Story

From a farm in Bahia to your kitchen

Vanilla Brasil was born from a simple conviction: real vanilla should come from the people who grow it.

We planted our first Vanilla planifolia vines in Bahia, Brazil, a region of Atlantic Forest with the humidity, shade and soil the orchid needs. Every vine is hand pollinated. Every pod is hand harvested.

Today we are vertically integrated, from plantation to finished product. We cure, process and pack everything ourselves. No intermediaries, no mystery, no filler.

Vanilla Brazil LLC is our American chapter, bringing the same vanilla that Brazilian chefs already trust directly to the US market.

Questions

Good to know

All of our vanilla is Vanilla planifolia cultivated on our own plantation in Bahia, Brazil. We grow it, cure it and process it ourselves.

Caviar is the pure seed from inside the pod, ideal when you want visible specks and clean flavor. Paste is the whole pod with the seeds, made for volume production. Powder is the cured pod finely ground, alcohol free and heat stable. Beans are the whole cured pods for infusions and extract making. Same origin, different applications.
